SafePCKit is a Registry cleaner that states it can optimize a computer in order to increase its performance. When it performs a scan it will list a variety of issues such as Com and ActiveX errors, Application Paths, File Extensions, Invalid font entries, and more. When a user tries to fix the detected “issues”, SafePCKit will state that you need to purchase the program before doing so.

The problem with registry cleaners is that there is no research that indicates that cleaning the registry provides any performance gain. Furthermore, Microsoft themselves have posted an article that states that registry cleaners could cause “serious issues” when modifying the registry and that they do not support the use of these types of tools.

Another concern I have with SafePCKit is that many of the Registry entries that it detects as issues on a computer would not affect its performance. For example, as you can see in one of the images above, it detects registry entries related to legitimate programs that I have installed on the computer.

Last, but not least, as some anti-virus and security products detect SafePCKit as a Trojan, PUP, or adware program, I feel that feel this program should be avoided.

How was SafePCKit installed on my Computer?

SafePCKit is not currently being distributed by adware bundles or other concerning methods. This program needs to be downloaded and installed directly from the web site.

While paying for SafePCKit may allow it to remove the detected registry entries, in my opinion many of the entries do not need to be removed in the first place. When you consider Microsoft’s stance that system optimizers and registry cleaners should be avoided, it is not suggested that you use them. To remove SafePCKit for free, you can use the removal guide below.

Your computer should now be free of the SafePCKit System Optimizer PUP program. If your current security solution allowed this program on your computer, you may want to consider purchasing the full-featured version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to protect against these types of threats in the future.

If you are still having problems with your computer after completing these instructions, then please follow the steps outlined in the topic linked below:
